During the
64th IAA (15 to 25 September 2011 in Frankfurt am Main) some 900 exhibitors - including 75 international automotive manufacturers – presented their latest products.
This year's fair motto was the
"Future comes as standard". Particular emphasis was placed on
electric mobility. In addition to the electric cars shown on the stands, it was the first time that the IAA dedicated a whole hall to electric vehicles, with a lot of informations and the opportunity to test drive. Here, visitors could experience the ecosystem of electric mobility with the associated products and services. The exhibition was accompanied by a high-level congress on electric mobility which shed light on the subject throughout the whole value chain.
"This year's IAA shows the excellent balance between technical innovation and sustainability. While six years ago power and PS were still in the foreground, the focus in 2009 was on the reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 as well as environmental protection. This year, the trade fair presents the successful combination of safety, comfort, performance and environmental technologies” said Guenther Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Energy, during his tour through the fairground. According to Oettinger, who attends the IAA every year, the show had made a real leap in quality in 2011, both technically and pedagogically. "The very good visitor figures show once again the attractiveness of this automotive show."
The next IAA will take place from
20 to 27 September 2012 in Hannover.
